Local Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Automobiles, building surfaces and postal boxes were defaced, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they announced in a official communication.
Officers report they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a individual observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored substance.
The substance had been placed in the pattern of a banned symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then discovered multiple other marked vehicles and house walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are banned in Germany under laws banning the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Officials state early analysis show the fluid was likely blood from a person.
"At present there remains no indication as to where it came from; officials are not yet aware of any physical harm in relation with the event," they stated.
Municipal representatives stated they were working "to unravel the mystery" and have appealed to the community for tips.
A senior political figure stated the incident left him stunned and needed to be solved promptly.
"This incident hits the very heart of Hanau and revives the wounds of the far-right terrorist attack in 2020," he posted on social media, recalling the killing of nine individuals by a shooter targeting residents of migrant background in February 2020.
